Emma Bengtsson (b. 1981, Falkenberg, Sweden) trained at the International Restaurant School in Stockholm from the age of sixteen and worked in pastry for roughly fifteen years, including four years at the two-Michelin-starred Edsbacka Krog and about five years at Operakällaren in the Royal Swedish Opera House. Recruited by then-executive chef Marcus Jernmark, she joined Aquavit in New York as pastry chef in 2010, where she also established a new bread program, and was promoted to executive chef in 2014, overseeing the savory, pastry and private-event kitchens. Under her direction Aquavit held two Michelin stars, making her the first Swedish woman and the second woman working in the United States to lead a two-star kitchen; her own Instagram profile dates the executive chef tenure as 2014 to 2025.
