Cartelier
Privacy Policy
Effective August 14, 2026
What we collect
- Account data — email address, password (handled by Firebase Authentication; we never see it), a display name if you set one, and the user type you choose at signup.
- What you do on Cartelier — venues you claim, menus you upload, corrections and accolades you submit, issue reports (with the optional email you attach), feedback and survey answers, and your personal dining record (“Meals I've had” — private to your account).
- Usage analytics — page views and basic device information via Google Analytics for Firebase, used to understand what the archive's readers care about.
- Emails we send you — we keep a ledger of what we've sent (welcome notes, account notices, surveys) so we never send the same thing twice.
What we do with it
Run the service, attribute contributions, review claims, respond to reports, and — if you haven't opted out — send occasional archive updates. We segment those updates by the user type you chose so they're relevant. We do not sell personal data, and we never will.
Cookies
A session cookie keeps you signed in (httpOnly, 14 days). Analytics cookies come from Google Analytics for Firebase. Admin preview features use short-lived cookies visible only to administrators.
Who processes data for us
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, and file storage (and analytics, above).
- Vercel — hosting.
- Resend — email delivery.
- LlamaCloud and Anthropic — document parsing and extraction for preserved menus. These process the public documents in the archive, not your personal data.
Your choices
- Email — every archive update carries a one-click unsubscribe, and the preference lives in your settings. Account notices (claim decisions, report resolutions) still arrive, since they concern actions you take.
- Access & deletion — write to archive@cartelier.io to request a copy of your data or deletion of your account. Public contributions to the archive (uploaded menus, verified corrections) remain part of the historical record; attribution can be removed on request.
People in the archive
The archive documents public professional facts — a chef named on a published menu, an award announced by its organization — always with the source. If a page about you is wrong, use “Report an issue” on that page or write to archive@cartelier.io; we review every report.
Changes & contact
Material changes to this policy will be announced on the site or by email. Questions and requests: archive@cartelier.io.
