Asta occupies a small Back Bay storefront at 47 Massachusetts Avenue, where chef Alex Crabb has run a tasting-menu kitchen since 2013, offering menus of varying course counts rather than a single fixed progression. The dining room is pared back to brick walls, a gilded pressed-tin ceiling, and a curved counter that faces the open kitchen, and the cooks carry plates to the table and explain them themselves. Dishes rotate frequently and draw on New England ingredients filtered through Crabb's Nordic apprenticeship at Noma; wine is presented on a handwritten list, and the restaurant is listed in the Michelin Guide as a selected restaurant.
