Karen Akunowicz (b. 1978, Kearny, New Jersey) trained at the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts and cooked in Modena, Italy, before working at the Boston restaurants Via Matta and Oleana and serving as executive chef and partner at Joanne Chang's Myers+Chang. She received the James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef: Northeast in 2018 and opened her own enoteca, Fox & the Knife, in South Boston in 2019; it was a James Beard finalist for Best New Restaurant in 2020. She subsequently founded Fox Pasta Company (2020), the Southern Italian restaurant and pastificio Bar Volpe (2021), and Fox & Flight (2024), and appeared on Bravo's Top Chef seasons 13 and All-Stars L.A.
