Alain Ducasse (born 13 September 1956 in Orthez, France; later a Monégasque national) trained under Michel Guérard, Roger Vergé and Alain Chapel before taking charge of the kitchen at La Terrasse of the Hôtel Juana in Juan-les-Pins in 1986, and in 1987 became chef of Le Louis XV at the Hôtel de Paris in Monte-Carlo. He subsequently built a multinational restaurant and training group, DUCASSE Paris (formerly Alain Ducasse Entreprise), and was the first chef to hold three Michelin stars at three restaurants in three cities, and the first to be awarded six Michelin stars simultaneously. His London restaurant, Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester on Park Lane, opened in 2007 and holds three Michelin stars, with Jean-Philippe Blondet as head chef interpreting Ducasse's cuisine there.
