About

Lenox Sophia occupies a corner of A Street in South Boston, where chef-owner Shi Mei cooks multi-course tasting menus one with meat, one vegetarian that draw on several traditions rather than settling into a single regional style. Mei trained at Johnson & Wales University and cooked at Thomas Keller's French Laundry and Bouchon before returning to Boston in 2016; he works the open kitchen of the roughly 16-seat room himself and talks with guests while plating. Courses rotate with the seasons and have included rose-scented scallop crudo, truffled rutabaga soup, and a panna cotta made from parsnip, and since the restaurant carries no liquor license, diners bring their own bottles.
