Tyler Florence (b. March 3, 1971, Greenville, South Carolina), a graduate of Johnson & Wales University who cooked in New York kitchens including Cibo before becoming a Food Network host, opened Wayfare Tavern in San Francisco's Financial District in 2010, taking over 558 Sacramento Street, the former premises of Rubicon. He remained the restaurant's owner and executive chef through its relocation to 201 Pine Street in spring 2025, after fourteen years on Sacramento Street; the menu is built on turn-of-the-20th-century American tavern cooking, with fried chicken as its signature dish. His other San Francisco ventures include the steakhouse Miller & Lux, alongside El Paseo in Mill Valley and a series of cookbooks.
