Michael Tusk (b. 1964, New Jersey) trained at the Culinary Institute of America, graduating in 1989, and cooked in France and Italy before working in the San Francisco Bay Area at Stars, Chez Panisse, and Oliveto under Paul Bertolli. With his wife and business partner Lindsay Tusk he opened Quince in Pacific Heights in 2003, relocating it to Jackson Square in 2009, where the restaurant holds three Michelin stars and a green star; the couple added the adjacent trattoria Cotogna in 2010 and the wine bar Verjus in 2018 under their Quince & Co. group. He received the James Beard Foundation award for Best Chef: Pacific in 2011 and, after multiple further nominations, was named Outstanding Chef at the 2026 James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards.
